First Exhibit of 2012The Bankhead House and Heritage Center presents… Forty Years of Photography A Retrospective: Photographs by Pat Nelson and Cameras Through Time
Featuring award winning photography by Jasper native Pat Nelson Pat enjoys most forms of photography including nature and wildlife, street shooting, and sports. Influences on his photography are the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams, Thomas Mangelsen, plus the paintings of Edward Hopper. Pat is particularly drawn to neon signs, paper boxes, bicycles, unique street scenes and colorful patterns, natural and manmade. Pat is honored and flattered to be asked to have a showing of his photographs at the Bankhead House and Heritage Center. This is particularly meaningful considering the beauty and history of this magnificent structure that happens to be in close proximity to his birthplace, childhood home, boyhood elementary school and present residence. WHAT’S IN THE BAG? Prior to 1988 Pat used Minolta cameras and lenses with the exception of “October Girls” which was shot with a Pentax 645 medium format camera. Since 1988 Pat has used Nikon equipment exclusively. At present this would usually include a Nikon D-700 SLR, D-7000 SLR, 16-35mm, 24-120mm, 80-200mm, 105mm micro lens, polarizing filter, graduated ND filters, Sekonic incident light meter, Gitzo carbon fiber tripod, Kirk custom ballhead and Domke camera bags. All manuals have been downloaded to a Kindle Fire tablet. Exhibit January 16-March 23 Admission is free. Please call ahead to schedule a tour appointment for groups of 10 or more people.
