The mission of the Walker Area Community foundation is to serve as a nonprofit dedicated to the nurture and advancement of the community through forming and preserving charitable capital and using the proceeds of that capital to better the community as a whole.

• To build a better Walker County where the citizens experience a high quality of life, where the youth are prepared for the future, and our seniors are respected and loved and secure.
• Establish all forms of giving:
• Secure outside funds from Federal, State, and Private sources outside of the WACF Service Area to match / leverage / compound investments from the foundation in the opportunities at hand
• Provide seed funding for the initiation of new, innovative, or missing services and aspects of a healthy, whole, and fulfilling community
• Leveraging and multiplying local charity with outside sources of assistance
• Developing sustainable projects for the greater Walker Area.

The Walker Area Community Foundation was organized in 1995 with a portion of the proceeds of the sale of the Walker Regional Medical Center, Inc.

The purpose of the Foundation is to receive and expend funds for charitable uses for the benefit of the community of Walker County, and environs. The Foundation is organized as a nonprofit corporation under the laws of the State of Alabama and is governed by a Board of Directors.

The foundation actively solicits gifts from individuals, corporations and other grant-making organizations and invests all funds so that income may be returned to the community for charitable purposes.
