The establishment of the Hope Clinic which offers free healthcare for uninsured, qualified residents of Walker County is the Community Foundation's largest initiative in its grant making history. In partnership with Walker Baptist Medical Center , the Community Foundation began the process in 2004 and we're proud to report the first patients were seen January, 2006 .

The Hope Clinic continues to receive tremendous financial support from the community. The Walker Area Community Foundation will match every dollar raised up to $50,000 a year for three years to help the clinic to become fully established and a major source of healthcare for our community.

Operating one night per week, f rom the opening of the Clinic through April 2007, there have been 1,679 patient visits and over 7,100 hours of volunteered medical and administrative staffing . Through medical treatment and pharmaceutical assistance the total value of services performed in the first sixteen months exceeds $2,471,000. We have even greater expectations for the future.

If you would like to donate to the WACF's Hope Clinic Fund or volunteer at the clinic, please contact Linda Murphy at 302-0011.
