Sherer Family Foundation Fund
With a passion for making the landscape of our community beautiful, the late Dr. Jerald M. Sherer and his wife, Mrs. Billie, created the Sherer Family Foundation Fund. The Sherer’s used their private family foundation for years to conduct their charitable giving. In 2009, they closed their family foundation and rolled their charitable dollars into the Sherer Family Foundation Fund housed within the Walker Area Community Foundation.
This fund is dedicated to supporting the aesthetic enhancement of the City of Jasper first and then to the surrounding areas in Walker County.
At the time of establishment, Community Foundation President John T. Oliver, Jr. said, "An endowed fund is a lasting legacy that addresses the needs of today and the challenges of tomorrow. We are very grateful to the Sherer Family for the trust they have placed in the Community Foundation. By establishing this very generous fund, the Sherer's are enabling improvements and benefits for our community for generations to come."
