GOAL Support nonprofits in Walker County through Foundation grants and capacity-building initiatives.
One of the core objectives of the Foundation is to help support the charitable needs and improve the quality of life for the people of Walker County and the surrounding area by supporting local nonprofits. This support occurs primarily through awarding competitive grants to individual nonprofits, serving as a partner in local nonprofit initiatives, helping build strong organizations, and connecting nonprofits with resources and with one another through the Nonprofit Council of Walker County.
As the Foundation begins to focus on strategic priorities for the community such as healthy lifestyles, recreation, education, and creating alignment around a community vision, it will remain committed to supporting nonprofits in Walker County through grants and capacity-building initiatives.
Our key strategy for supporting nonprofits in Walker County is to support them in maximizing their effectiveness and expertise. There is always room for improvement in our jobs, our organizations, and companies because there is always new technology, training and insight that can help us become more effective. The nonprofit world is no different.
The foundation is committed to making nonprofits as strong as they can possibly be. We will work to offer training sessions on issues like board development, grant writing, volunteer recruitment and retention, good accounting practices and of course, encouraging a strong social media presence.
We will utilize the Nonprofit Council of Walker County as a sounding board for ideas on how we can effectively support nonprofit efforts to build capital and capacity.
Most importantly, we hope to help our nonprofits become even better at what they do for their clients and our communities. Our community is extremely blessed with nonprofits that are caring and smart, as well as good stewards of donated dollars, goods and time.
